"A dreamy stay in the heart of South-East Asia's concrete jungle"

                May 24, 2016 | TOKYO, JAPAN
Konnichiwa! It's quite hard to believe that it just has been one month since I returned from my two-week Asia trip, because it honestly already feels like ages ago. Perhaps fourtheen days was way too short to discover the all finest places of two enormous bustling cities. I remember it felt like the clock was ticking twice as fast, because before I knew I was strapped in my plane seat flying back to home-sweet-Amsterdam. Good thing I already made some plans to visit the Eastern corners of the world again, soon!

During my trip to Tokyo I had the chance to stay at the amazing Park Hotel Tokyo, a luxury hotel with a focus on Japanese art, located on the top floors of the Shiodome Media Tower which could only mean two things; beautiful painted rooms with a breathtaking view over Asia's concrete jungle!

During my arrival at the hotel at nighttime, I remember that all my focus went to the mesmerizing lighted Tokyo Tower behind the young man who was helping me at the check-in. But things got even better.. No wonder that this is one of my most liked picture on Instagram, because oh boy, the roomview I had was simply jaw dropping. Heights normally gives me quite the chills but there, there I could sit at the window all day staring into the never ending sight of tall buildings. Pinch me!

I stayed at the 'Cherry Blossom' room located on the artist level, where every room is dedicated to an Japanese artist to transform a blank room into a wonderful piece of art. You can view all the other rooms here. I went to Tokyo in the third week of April thus completely missing out on the Sakura season. Luckily I was waking up to falling butterfly leaves every morning, which definitely made up for a lot!
Looking back at a wonderful week, I can happily say that I had a very satisfying stay at the Park Hotel Tokyo. The service was amazing (the Japanese have very good manners!) and the location is very pleasing as well. Located just a few steps walking from the hotel, the Shimbashi and Shiodome stations will take you to every desired corner of Tokyo. The artist rooms are definitely worth booking, don't forget to ask for a room with a Tokyo tower view because some other rooms are facing the other way. I loved that I had the chance to explore some other artist rooms who weren't occupied at that moment. As a drawing/painting artist by heart (long lost hobby of mine since I started blogging) I found it very interesting to discover all the intriguing stories behind the paintings. Please do note that Tokyo room standards are not very spacious in general, so if you - and your partner in crime - are travelling with lots of luggage, I would consider choosing a King instead of a Queen room.

Onto my favorite part of the day, breakfast (yum!); it was delicious containing a mix of Western and Eastern options. The croissants where just as good as the ones in my favorite boulangerie in Paris and I had so much of the smoked salmon that my belly could explode. If you have enough time, I would suggest going out and try other breakfast spots in the city as well. You're in Japan anyway and with so many fingerlicking-good food options, you should try as much as you can!
